How to Become a Member

Arboretum Housing Co-operative is a 34 unit complex close to Guilford Shopping Centre, library, schools, buses and easy access to Port Mann Bridge. The Arboretum is a family oriented co-op and participation is mandatory.

Each unit has mini blinds, wood burning fireplace, washer & dryer hookups, outside storage, wall to wall carpet, dishwasher and covered parking. Hot water is included in the housing charge; members are responsible for their own utility costs.

PLEASE NOTE: Applications are kept on file for one year. If you wish to remain on our waiting list, please advise the office every year. The office should also be advised of any changes in income or family composition so your application can be kept up to date.

Applicant Info

Shares

Shares must be paid in full prior to move-in by cheque, money order or cash. The share purchase entitles the member to vote at General Meetings; sit on a committee and the responsibility to participate. The shares are refunded on move-out providing no money is owed to the co-op and the unit is left in good condition.

Application Fee

A $22.00 application fee must be paid for processing the application and doing a credit check. The fee is payable at the first interview.

Associate Member

Other adults, 19 years or older, living in the unit may become associate members; the associate share purchase is $10.00. Associate members have the same rights, privilege and responsibilities as the principal member. Associate shares are refunded on move-out.

Housing Charge Payments

Post-dated cheques must be submitted prior to move-in for the fiscal year – September 1st to August 1st.

Hydro

Members must establish an account with B.C. Hydro to be effective on the move-in date.

Cable & Phone

Members are responsible for their own cable and telephone.

Insurance

Members are required to have household insurance. Proof of insurance must be submitted to the office prior to move-in and proof is required annually thereafter.

Common Room

Common room may be used for private functions; the member is responsible for any damages.

Participation

Members are expected to participate; sign up for committees; attend work parties; keep common areas tidy. Members must familiarize themselves with the Occupancy Agreement, Rules of Association and Policies in Member Manual.
